The arguments may be "based on science," but they are still inconsistent.

"If we elect appeasers in 2008, we deserve what will happen to us.

"But do our children deserve to inherit that hideous world?"

I just heard a quote from Harry Reid on the radio. He was talking about the newest immigration bill, and said it was much better than the bill "the Republicans did not let us finish." Of course he meant "the bill the Republicans killed with a filibuster." But let's look at that statement:
I'm mad that the Republicans killed a bill. The only reason I would be mad is if I liked that bill. Because of those obstructionist Republicans, we had to rewrite the bill. This new bill is better; but then again, I liked the other bill. My judgement apparently isn't all that good, if I'm mad at the Republicans for forcing us to make a better bill. Wait, what was my point again?

In short, Harry Reid is an idiot. I wouldn't nitpick so much, except Reid makes a living out of the garbage that comes out of his mouth and pollutes the noosphere.
